Cricket and Controversy : Glimpse of Azhar;s life on his birthday

On Friday, 8th of February Mohammad Azharudddin is going to celebrate his 55th birthday. Mohammad Azharudddin  an Indian politician and former cricketer , has captained Indian team in 47 tests during 90's.

Nicknamed as AZHAR , AJJU or sometimes AZZU , he is a right handed batsman. He was born to Mohammad Azharudddin and Yousuf sultana in Hyderabad, Telangana India. He did his early schooling from  All Saints High School,Hyderabad and graduated from Nizam College , Osmania University with a Bachelor of Commerce.

 Know for his good political background, along with being  a successful cricketer,let us know something more about him as he celebrates his 55th birthday today.

 AZHAR AS A POLITICIAN AND CRICKETER –

Azhar associated himself to  Indian National Congress party since 19 February 2009. He won the Indian general election in 2009, from Moradabad, UP, to become Member of Parliament of India.

On field, it is said that Azhar was always found to be hypnotic in his motion, be it batting or fielding, his willow was a wand, his strokes cast a spell. He was considered to be the most delightful batsman to watch ,and a super fielder to boot. Azhar has experienced the highs and lows of life ,those who saw his supreme batting artist at peak will never forget him . He  made his debut for the Indian Cricket team, in test cricket in 1984 against England at Eden gardens in Kolkata, on 31 December 1984 and hit three centuries in his ' FIRST THREE MATCHES.'

Azhar has been in captaincy of Indian team, succeeding Krishamachari Srikanth in 1989, and played 174 One day internationals.He led to team to victory in 90 ODI's. He has won 14 matches as a captain.




CAREER AND CONTROVERSIES

Azharuddin was accused of alleged match fixing, in a scandal in 2000.The CBI report states that Azhar was the one to introduce the then South African Captain, Hansie Cronjie to the bookies. The ICC and BCCI banned Azharuddin for life based on a report by the Central Bureau of Investigation. Although on 8 November 2012, a Divisional Bench consisting of justice Ashutosh Mohunta and Krishna Mohan Reddy of Andhra Pradesh High Court, revoked the ban imposed based on evidence found.


 PERSONAL LIFE -

Azharuddin got married to Naureen in 1987, and has two sons from her.In 1996, he divorced her and married actress Sangeeta Bijlani. A biopic has also been introduced in Bollywood in 2016, as Indian sports drama film, by Tony D'Souza which is  written by Rajat Arora and is inspired from Azhar's life. Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor produced this biopic and cast Emraan Hashmi in titular role. It casts  Nargis Fakri as Sangeeta, ( second wife of Azhar), Prachi Desai as Naureen ( first wife of Azhar ) and Lara Dutta as lawyer. Movie was moderate success at the box office, as it collected 56.8 Crores  gross against the budget of 35 crores.His film also drew critics for its interpretation of events.
