Three drug peddlers arrested in two separate operations

In two separate operations, three drug peddlers were arrested in Samba and Kathua districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday

A resident of Barnal village, Punjab named Jagseer Singh was arrested with 1 Kg of poppy straw from the Teli Basti area of Bari Brahmana in Samba district. A case under NDPS Act was registered against Singh.

In Kathua district, two inter-state smugglers were arrested and 3,700 bottles of codeine phosphate were seized from their possession. 

The police acted on a information, the police installed a checkpoint near Londi Morh Hiranagar on Jammu-Pathankot Highway and arrested the accused with the banned substance. 

Both the smugglers were arrested and booked under the Narcotic, Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act (NDPS). 

The officials in another incident arrested a bootlegger and recovered 182 bottles and 144 nips of illicit liquor from in Vijaypur area of Samba district.

He was identified as Robin Singh Slathia of Gurha Morh and a case against him is registered under relevant sections.
