The Indian Museum and the Chinese Consulate in Kolkata organised a workshop on Tuesday which showcased the art and craft from China.

A team comprising of 30 members from the Chinese Cultural team has come to Kolkata for a visit. The main purpose of this visit is to showcase the art and culture of the country during the Durga Puja festival. 

The artists and craftsmen from China guided participants of the workshop. In the workshop the participants were taught paper cutting, dough modelling, pyrography, sugar painting, micro carving, fan painting, engraving and embroidery.

Chinese Consul-General in Kolkata Ma Zhanwu said, "This workshop is a part of bilateral exchange. We have brought a team from China during the Durga Puja in Kolkata, and later we will also take artists from here to China to promote Indian art and craft." 

He also added that in the month of June a group of artists from Kumartoli who expertise in idol making visted China, and exchange of such types would also continue in future.
