9 dead, 16 injured in Bhillai Steel plant blast

Approximately nine died and 16 were injured in a blast at the Bhillai Steel Plant in Chhatisgarh on Tuesday morning. The blast took place in a pipeline near the coke oven section at the plant.

Police along with the rescue team rushed to the spot after the blast. Those injured wee taken to the local hospital. The fire fighters have managed to control the fire. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the expanded Bhillai Steel plant in June this year. Six workers had lost their lives in 2014, after an explosion in the blast furnace. 

According to SAIL (Steel-Authority of India Limited), a state-run body who runs the plant, to produce world class rails for the Indian Railways.
