Pakistan to open Kartapur border for Sikh piligrims

The Kartapur border would be soon opened by Pakistan with India for Sikh pilgrims to visit a historic gurdwara there without visas, said  Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Friday. He said a system a system was being developed for Sikhs to visit the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur and "soon some forward movement is expected."

The first hint of opening the border was given by Pakistan Army Chief  Qamar Javed Bajwa after he met Navjot Singh Sidhu the Congress politician in Islamabad during the swearing in ceremony of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The gurudwara of Kartarpur is in the Narowal district of Punjab province near the border of India and is an important place for the Sikhs as it is believed that the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak died there.
