Minor sexually abused in school van in Bhopal

A three-year-old girl was allegedly sexually abused in a school van by its conductor in Bhopal on Thursday. The accused was detained by the police on Friday.

The incident took place when the girl studying in pre-nursery was returning home in the Ayodhya Nagar area of the city in her school van. 

Police inspector said that, "The accused is claiming he is 17 years of age. We are verifying his age."

The victim returned home at around 2 pm and told her mother about the incident when shee took her for a bath. When  her mother inquire more about the incident, the girl blamed the conductor. 

The van is 14-seater in which the incident took place. It has been hired by the school where the girl study. 

Her parents later lodged a police complaint against the van conductor, Singh said.

Under the Section 376 AB of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) which deals with punishment for rape of girls under the age of 12, and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, the accused was booked for rape.

The Madhya Pradesh assembly has passed a bill introducing the death penalty for those found guilty of raping minor aged 12 years or less.
