Speaker adjourns LS, as the members engage in heated debate

Members of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and Trinamool Congress (TMC) indulged in a heated debate in the Lok Sabha today. The heated exchanges were made over alleged lynching of four women in West Bengal, forcing speaker Sumitra Mahajan to adjourn he proceedings briefly. 

During Zero hour, BJP member Kirit Somaiya raised the issue of alleged lynching of people, including the women in West Bengal and Kerela.



Members from TMC and the Left began protesting against the allegations. Some BJP and TMC members became engaged in heated exchanges.

TMC members, Kalyan Banerjee and Idris Ali, walked across the Well of the house towards somaiya, who also walked towards the Well.


As Sumitra Mahajan wondered what exactly was happening, Parliamentry Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar and few other minister intervened and tried to calm the other TMC members.The Speaker adjourned the proceedings for about 10 mins.


Somaiya alleged that in West Bengal, four women were lynched and even stripped. He also wants to know about what the state government was doing. This elicited noisy protest from TMC members.
The BJP members also talked about the alleged lynching incidents in Kerela and the Lefts members from the state were up on their feet protesting against it.
