Introducing the art lovers of Bhopal to the different shades of women, Rangkriti Natya Sansthan in collaboration with Directorate of Culture, Government of Madhya Pradesh, during the one day Naari Shakti Festival, organized at Shaheed Bhavan on Monday.

The evening commenced with the felicitation of women from different fields appreciating their contribution to their fields. Rita Verma for contribution in theatre and Jyoti Raikwar for her contribution to Kathak. Pragati Shrivastava for her expertise in Kathak while Dr. Shagufta Gupta contribution in physiotherapy.

After the felicitation ceremony, the evening showcased four cultural performances. Jyoti Raikwar with her perfect rhythm and expression filled the ambiance with devotion through her first performance Aigiri Nandini. In her second performance which included a Krishna Bhakti song, saw the technical aspect of Kathak with rigorous footwork and chakris. The song was based on Teen taal and left the left the audience spell bound.

The second performance of the evening, a musical tribute to the instruments of Indian Classical Music PanchVaadya , created a perfect fusion of melody and rhythm. The performance saw a jugal bandi between Pakhawaj, Dholak, Tabla, Sitar and Harmonium. The all women group of Anuja Badode, Aarti Maran, Tapasya Bhatt, Aparna Gupta and Neetu Yadav left the music lovers speechless with their power packed performances.

The third performance of the evening, a Ghazal recital by Geetika Lohat, soothed the atmosphere with her melodious voice. She began her performance with Ghulam Ali’s Kacchi Deewarein and concluded her performance with Dil Khilona to Nahi sung by her Guru Ustad Anwar Hussain.

The evening concluded with, a dance drama by the students of Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, was based on Bhasmasur vadh. “The three and a half minute dance drama focuses on how the nine forms of Goddess killed the demon Bhasmasur. Around 9 artistes will be staging the dance drama,” Pragati Shrivastava, choreographer of the dance drama said.
