Earthquake of 6.1 magnitude jolts north India, creates panic in Delhi, valley

New Delhi: An earthquake of 6.1 magnitude struck the Afghanistan-Tazakistan border on Monday, leaving tremors in Northern India. Tremors of this earthquake were felt in New Delhi, Haryana and Punjab, however, no damage or casualties have been reported yet.

The quake which was felt in Delhi-NCR left the residents in panic, making them rush on the streets. The metro train facilities were briefly halted in Delhi, however they resumed shortly.

"The epicenter of the quake was the near Afghanistan and Tajikistan, and occurred at the depth of around 190 metres,"  an official requesting anonymity said.

in the valley, the officials slashed off the electricity supply citing precautionary measures.
