Of Hugs and Embraces


Bhopal:  Filled with an overwhelming sense of frenzy of meeting their beloved friends after so many years, the alumni of Carmel Senior Higher Secondary School were seen high spirited on Sunday morning. Some welcomed their friends from the overseas with a warm hug while some were seen recollecting their childhood memories, exchanging smiles and hand-shakes.
Organized by Carmel Ex-Students Association (CESA), this alumnus meet saw participation from ex-Carmelites settled overseas and also from different parts of the country. The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp by chief guest Member of Parliament Alok Sanjar and IPS officer Anuradha Singh.
Addressing the alumni, MP Alok Sanjar said that he was highly delighted to see CESA take an initiative to reunite the Carmelites. This was followed by CESA President Anubha Shrivastava shared her experience from her childhood days from the school. “This school has taught us to be the basics of humanity.” 
Following the introduction of CESA, the core members of the association presented a medley of devotional songs. This was followed by a solo act by Anurag Shrivastava. He recalled the younger days by singing rhymes and poems they used to sing on their open ground.
After his joyous mono act, chief guest Anuradh Shankar enlightened the audience with her speech. In her address she said, “We have been born in a country where variety is beauty. Palette of colours should be preserved and we can successfully do it. A woman in a man and a woman in a woman can only make a good society.” 
Followed by her speech the enthusiasts of the CESA members gave a gracious dance performance on a mash up. The first performance was given by IAS officer Anubha Shrivastava and Molly Bose who are 1984 pass out. This was followed by a series of performances from various batches. The event was concluded by a band performance and a ramp walk.

CESA Vice-President Sapna Choudhury said, “The year-long golden jubilee programmes will

also include a fete in the month of December and the concluding event will be held in July 2018. We have been working in the field of education and are hoping that even after the celebrations are completed, we continue with this social cause.”
