Bhopal:  The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday, staged a demonstration at Board office square in Bhopal, the state capital of Madhya Pradesh. During the demonstration, the party workers set ablaze the effigy of chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, opposing CM’s recent decision to increase the water level of Omkareshwar dam from 189 metres to 192.59 metres.

The decision has endangered more than a dozen villages at the backwaters of the dam and the villagers are now feared to be drowned. “While we are celebrating the festivities of Navaratri and Dusherra, a two and a half year old girl drowned in the back waters of the Omkareshwar dam that flooded in the farm she was playing in. The farm is near to her residence,”   AAP state co-ordinator Alok Agarwal said.
AAP also alleged that there has been no alternative arrangement of rehabilitation for the residents of this village by the government.
